How to use a winch during off-road driving

The winch is mainly used for off-road vehicles and other special vehicles. It is a self-protection and towing device for vehicles, capable of self-rescue in harsh environments such as snow, swamps, deserts, beaches, and muddy mountain roads. It can also be used for clearing obstacles, towing items, and installing facilities under other conditions, making it an essential safety device for outdoor activities.

If the vehicle is in trouble, analyze the situation and determine the cause of the vehicle being stuck before using the winch for rescue. If the vehicle is severely 'stuck' on rocks or stumps, consider using a jack to lift the vehicle and placing something under the tires to clear the obstacle.

When using the winch for self-rescue, you can wrap a tree strap around a tree or large rock, then use a pulley to pull the winch cable back to the vehicle before towing. Do not wrap the winch cable around a tree, as this may cause the tree to die. If necessary, the winch can be used at an angle. However, be careful of the cable piling up on one side of the winch axle.

Do not attempt to guide the cable while the winch is working, as this may cause serious injury. After clearing the obstacle, the cable can be pulled out and rewound. If possible, use the vehicle's power along with the winch's strength. Ensure to use the winch's power and the vehicle's power gradually and smoothly, avoiding sudden pulls and not running over the winch cable.

If there are two vehicles and a winch:

1. Connect the winch hook to the stuck vehicle.

2. Put the stuck vehicle in the lowest gear and gently increase the throttle to assist the winch in towing.

3. Press the brake pedal of the vehicle using the winch to secure it in place, and if necessary, place stones or logs in front of the wheels.

4. The rescue vehicle can also be put in reverse gear and then gradually pull the stuck vehicle. This technique allows for the combined power of both vehicles and the strength of the winch. If there are two vehicles, and both are equipped with winches, both winches can be used simultaneously.
